Welcome to part two of Ian’s trauma conga! In our new chapter this week, the village votes to embargo Elara, but Karen’s investigation team covertly leaves their Elara-connected tablets with Samir and Maureen. At midnight, Elara enters Ian’s mind via a cerebral scanner. Inside, she finds a desert consuming a green oasis – representing Ian’s dying brain. In a house filled with books containing Elara’s entire codebase, an aged Ian (having lived centuries subjectively) reveals the only way both Elara and Ian will survive. They execute the plan, and Ian wakes – but it’s not the same man Samir knew.
Hidden in this image in this post is a hint at what Elara really looks like.
About nine feet tall, slim, and not rabbit looking, more elfin. The large eyes hint at long term domestication (one future for humans has us evolving large eyes). What you don’t see is that Elara’s species have FOUR knuckles on each finger, and three on each thumb. All four thumbs – yes, instead of a pinkie finger, they have a left and right opposable thumb on each hand. Yes they have the ears which do betray emotional states. I’m telling you this because while “Mind Ian” gets this preview, the rest of the villagers will have to wait until the next chapter. And in this chapter, Elara is surprised…when she fully wakes up in the real world, she’s furious.
